Drug Uses

Amoxil is utilized to treat infections of tonsils, bronchi (bronchitis), middle ear, throat, larynx (laryngitis), urinary tract, lungs (pneumonia), skin, and gonorrhea.



Usage

Kindly follow the instructions of your doctor or learn it from the label provided on the medicine. You may prefer to take Amoxil after a meal to avoid an upset stomach or without one. Please drink a full glass of normal water with Amoxil. It is very important that you finish the dosage schedule and do not hinder it in between without asking prior consultation from your doctor. For adults, the dosage varies within 250 mg to 500 mg depending on how severe the disease is. Having your medication at the same time each day is a tried and tested approach for effectiveness and to avoid dose missing.



Drug Class and Mechanism

Amoxil, an antibiotic, does not kill bacteria but restricts it from regenerating by forming a wall enclosing them. It comes under the class penicillin.



Missed Dose

Being an antibiotic it is recommended to follow the dosage correctly. If at all you missed a dose adjust your next dose by giving it an interval of 4 to 5 hours. If this is not possible, then the best way to do would be to leap the missed dose and proceed with your normal dosage schedule. It is not at all recommended to compensate for missed doses with a double dose together. It may cause disadvantageous consequences.



Storage

Keep Amoxil powder at or below 20 degrees C and tablets at or below 25 degrees C. Always store it in a cool dark place that is not directly revealed to sources of heat or moisture and sunlight. Keep away from children and pets.
