Warning/Precautions

Doctors do not recommend using Maxalt if you are allergic to any component in it or if you ever had chest pain, ischemic heart disease, blood flow or heart conditions, irregular heartbeat, stroke, or unstable high blood pressure. Also do not use the drug if you are on ergot alkaloids (e.g., ergotamine). If you have used a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (e.g., phenelzine) in the past 14 days or any other serotonin receptor agonist (e.g., sumatriptan) in the last 24 hour, Maxalt is not recommended.

Explain all your medical history in detail with your doctor before commencing any new medication. You should not miss telling about any OTC or supplements you take. Under certain medications or situation, you will be observed regularly to check your response or possible side-effects to the medicine, for that you may be advised to perform some tests, it is recommended to do that and follow the procedures suggested by your doctor.

Maxalt may raise the risk of getting dizziness or drowsiness. This risk greatly develops if you combine it with alcoholic beverages or some other medicines. So please stop taking such adverse affecting food/drinks at least until finishing Maxalt. Tasks demanding good mental attention should be avoided during a migraine or Maxalt Medication.

The use of Maxalt in children below 18 years is not advised as its safety is not confirmed.

It is not a medicine for headaches other than migraines. In such cases please consult a doctor.

Pregnant women, women preparing for pregnancy, and breastfeeding mothers should take advice from a doctor before taking Maxalt.
